Prayer Time

I don't remember the specific days, but these two stories happened recently during our nightly prayer time we have with Averi before we put her to bed.  We are amazed at how much she is paying attention as we pray even when it doesn't seem like she is and how much she appears to be understanding at such an early age:

While Averi and I were at Grandma's house for a week, I still prayed with Averi every night and I always tried to pray for Jeff as part of the prayer.  Well, one of the last nights, I inadvertently forgot to pray for Jeff and as soon as I said "Amen", Averi said "Da Da" as if reminding me to prayer for her daddy which I of course immediately did.

From then on, Averi has continued to remind me to pray for "Da Da" or "Ba" each time I pray if I don't specifically mention them by name in my prayer.  One evening Jeff was at a meeting and so I was putting Averi to bed by myself.  I must have not said "Daddy" in my prayer because as soon as I finished, Averi again said "Da Da".  Thus, I closed my eyes again and said "Thank you for Da Da".  When I opened my eyes, Averi signed "thank you" as if she too was thanking God for Daddy.  Then she said Ba and so I said "Thank you for Ba" and Averi signed "thank you".  This started a series of Averi suggesting items that she knew the word or sign for and then signing "thank you" such as the dog and the cat we saw that night at our neighbor's house.  How precious it was to see my little girl attempting to pray to God!
