You must hold a hand

Tonight Averi, my mom, and I went shopping.  I went into the grocery store to pick up a few items while Averi and my mom went into the Dollar General store next door.  When I finished, I went to find them at Dollar General.  My mom was having a little bit of trouble with Averi because she didn't want to hold my mom's hand.  I took hold of Averi's hand and repeated my rule to Averi that in a store, she needed to hold a hand so she wouldn't get lost.  I told her that she could choose to hold either my hand or Grandma's (aka Ba) hand, but that she had to hold a hand.  Averi said "Ba" so I let go of her hand so that she could take Grandma's hand.  However, quicker than you could blink, Averi took my hand and put it in Grandma's hand and ran off through the store.  It took Mom and I a minute to realize what little darling had done, but we quickly recovered and chased her down.  We were both in awe, how quickly Averi's mind processed the situation to be able to pull off her get away!
